Description
The Health Information Associate will work alongside and report to the Health Information Manager. The individual will be responsible for (1) Assisting with Electronic Health Record (EHR) functions in clinic operations, (2) developing teaching materials and providing training to staff, (3) participating in EHR initiatives (internal departments and external partners); and (4) compiling program data and statistics on a monthly basis. This employee will work as part of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support use of EHR systems in Article 28 medical clinics by (1) becoming a super user, (2) facilitating trainings and (3) troubleshooting issues with clinic staff
Support clinical data reporting needs by (1) becoming well-versed in the database management software and (2) generating reports, upon request
Work with Health Information Manager in analyzing EHR performance data, identifying opportunities for improvement and presenting data to clinicians and administrative staff
Create new EHR user accounts
Ensure provider licenses are obtained from and renewed by EHR vendor
Contribute to tracking and processing requests for release of medical information
Assist with Meaningful Use attestation
Facilitate communication among agency staff, including writing up minutes and reports for Health Information Management Team (HIMT) meetings
Assist in the preparation of conference abstracts and presentations
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Informatics with a concentration in Health Information Technology or a related field
Experience:

1-2 years of experience as a software support/application analyst in a healthcare environment
Experience with EHR system(s) required, with high preference for eClinicalWorks (eCW)
Familiarity with Open Dental and Apteryx a plus
Experience with relational database management system(s) required, with preference for eClinicalWorks Business Optimizer (eBO)/IBM Cognos Report Studio
Experience as an EHR trainer preferred
Understanding of basic hardware, software, and networking principles preferred
Skill Sets:

Ability to quickly learn new technology in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
Ability to multi-task and meet assigned deadlines and project milestones
Must have proven ability to effectively solve problems
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communications skills
Leadership and/or facilitation experience with a group or team
Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Employee is willing and able to:
Create, edit and interpret charts, tables and spreadsheets (via Microsoft Excel).
Effectively manage, filter and sort data (via Microsoft Excel)
Create well-organized documents and outlines (via Microsoft Word)
Create visually-pleasing presentations (via Microsoft PowerPoint)
Manage mailbox and calendar (via Microsoft Outlook)
Licenses and Certifications:

RHIA,RHIT, CAHIMS, CPEHR, or CPHIT a plus
CompTIA A+ a plus
Valid driver’s license required to travel regularly by automobile or Zip Car
Work Environment:

Employee is required to travel regularly by automobile or Zip Car, subway, or bus in 4 out of 5 boroughs and is exposed to changing weather conditions
Employee frequently transports equipment, which can involve lifting at times
