Description

Role Purpose:

 

The Director – Data & Integration has primary responsibility of managing all aspects of the data architecture, data ingestion, data movement, data design and data administrations for Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) system department in accordance with the EDA vision and roadmap as established by system leadership and IHT leadership.

      

During the implementation and operations the director will be responsible for gaining consensus with the various teams to deliver defined project outputs on time, within budget, and with quality results. They will work with the SSM Health Care system governance structures of different domains to set priorities and coordinate resources to meet the needs of the organization. Additional teams include, but are not limited to Business Units, EHR and ERP teams, Data Quality/Integrity, Clarity Reporting, Analytics and Data Governance, and other teams related to components of Enterprise Data & Analytics.

      

   

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides a personal example of living the principles of continuous quality improvement whereby decision-making is driven by data, and colleague-supplier relationships are facilitated both within and outside the system.

  • Oversees the management of the integration of all IT aspects of the Data & Integration program, and oversight ensuring a holistic approach is implemented and maintained. This includes the coordination of the technology to support Data Architecture, Data Quality/Integrity, Data Sourcing, Data Mapping, Data Design and Data Administration.

  • Leads team meetings and creates comprehensive minutes to detail decision point, work flow documentation and presents results to all levels of SSM Integrated Health Technologies (SSMIHT) leadership and SSM Health Care (SSMHC) leadership.

  • Determines Data & Integration priorities in conjunction with SSMHC Enterprise Data Analytics program governance structure and project sponsors, assisting to develop any plans necessary to resolve resource or other budgetary issues during both project planning and implementation.

  • Coordinates and ensures effective implementation of the Enterprise Information Management technology plan.

  • Sets up and manages Data Management processes.

  • Negotiate the performance of activities with team members and their leaders in a matrix environment.

  • Involve stakeholders, functional expertise, and specialist staff in design reviews, and key decisions.

  • Manage change to preserve business plan commitments, initiate review if objectives must change.

  • Manage the financial aspects of the EDA program: budgeting, estimate to actual variance, capital project management, etc.

  • Provide input/justification for project costs and budget impact, including ROI.

  • Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external client to reassess and amend the scope of work requirement, budget, and timeline.

  • Oversee the reporting activities of team members, determining when to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • 5 to 7 years of experience
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings.
  • Knowledge of the strategic and operational issues of the EDA projects.
  • Strategic, conceptual analytical thinking and decision making skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
  • Excellent presentation and written communications skills.
  • Ability to advise on complex technical matters to all stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • A background in BI Technology involving an Enterprise Data & Analytics Program including source systems, ETL, data quality/integrity, database, and delivery mechanisms.  
  • Personal integrity and courage to escalate issues about the project to management when necessary and to advocate for responsible solutions to project problems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear, concise and tactful communication with senior management, peers and staff.
  • Ability to build teams and generate a spirit of cooperation while coordinating diverse activities and groups; people management and negotiating skills within a team environment.
  • Budget management skills; ability to analyze and review financing plans and related budgetary information to determine the impact on a project is required.
  • Ability to negotiate consensus amongst diverse groups and impact the activities of others not in own reporting structure.
