GENERAL SUMMARY:
 

The Application Specialist Senior-Clinical/Business has primary responsibility for applications designed to meet specific clinical or business work flows.  This position requires a strong knowledge of the application and the work flows and clinical/business needs of the service line it is designed for.   This position is responsible for day to day administrative task to ensure integrity of data, system reliability, accessibility and standardization as appropriate.   This position is responsible for implementation of the application, ongoing support, upgrades and training of the software.

 
Interrelationships:           

This position interacts with multiple IHT teams including Technical Service Center, Electronic Health Record Application Specialist , HL7 Integration Analyst & PCLAN.  This position also interacts with operation leadership and end users from a variety of service lines, both clinical and business. 

 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 
  • Imparts the philosophy, values, mission and vision of SSM Health Care and facilitates the integration of values in CQI activities.

     
  • Understands, embraces and practices the principles of CQI.
     
  • Understands and exemplifies the philosophy and values of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary and SSM Health.

     
  • Provides a personal example of living the principles of continuous quality improvement whereby decision-making is driven by data, and customer-supplier relationships are facilitated both within and outside the system.

  
  • Has a high level of knowledge regarding the clinical and business work flows associated with the service line or end user classification the software is intended to serve.

     
  • Collaborates with and participates in issue resolution session with inter-related teams for timely resolution of issues. 

     
  • Assist with small to medium projects requested by operation leadership that involve changes or additions to the application.  Brings project request to IHT management and provides input to scoping of approved projects. Participates in implementation process of the application including build, testing, training and first use support.

     
  • Maintains a high level of understanding of the application and integration with other software in order to independently and competently build the system and support end users.

     
  • Monitors, documents and reports system reliability and up time.  Analyzes issues that may arise, develop options, implement solutions, and escalate to leadership as needed.

       
  • Regularly provides guidance and training to new and experienced end users.

     
  • Identifies areas of common practice and implements opportunities for standardization.

     
  • Coordinates application enhancements by identifying needs, analyzing benefits, identifying process changes and impact of enhancements.

     
  • May provision user access and monitors system for secure accessibility.  Revokes obsolete access.  

               
  • Oversees activities of vendors in support and maintenance of the supported application.  Places change control notifications as appropriate for vendor activity 

     
  • Other Duties as assigned  

Minimum Qualifications:    

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years to 5 years of experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
