Description

HealthTECH Resources has a new direct hire FTE position for a HIM (Health Information Management) Manager at a premier healthcare client in CA. If you have management experience in an acute care HIM setting and are RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certified, we'd be interested in speaking with you more about this position.

HIM Manager Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversees HIM supervisors and staff to ensure compliance with internal and external medical record requirements, adequate staffing, and equitable scheduling and timely completion of duties.
  • Manages, monitors and oversees daily activities of the HIM operations support staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal productivity and quality standards related to HIM operations, including but not limited to record management, chart completion, privacy and birth registry functions.
  • Participates in the development of job descriptions, performance standards and policies and procedures related to health information management. Monitors staff compliance with standards of performance and provides feedback to staff on a routine basis.
  • Designs training programs for the HIM operations support staff and provides management oversight to ensure effective implementation that will facilitate the development of job skills and knowledge that will help staff exceed productivity and quality standards.
  • Assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of the HIM Department Performance Improvement Program.

HIM Manager Experience/Skills

  • Management experience in an acute care HIM setting required.
  • Minimum five years work experience in an acute care HIM setting required.
  • Knowledge of HIM system applications for electronic medical records, chart management and transcription functions required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to maintenance of health records and confidentiality of patient information in an acute care setting required.
  • RHIT or RHIA certification required.
  • High level communication skills required to be able to provide constructive feedback to staff, explain complex regulatory requirements to providers and other staff members, and to interact with customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related health care discipline desired.
  • Strong understanding of computer and database management systems desired.
