In Guatemala, the Project Salud y Nutrición (PSN), implemented by Jhpiego, is seeking a Peace Corps Response Volunteer to serve 12 months as a Health Information Technology Advisor. Under the oversight of the Ministry of Health, the project strengthens the implementation of the care and management model within the framework of Primary Health Care with public and private sector participation within areas of intervention in El Quiché and Huehuetenango. The project contributes to the measurable improvement of service quality integrated in health and nutrition per life cycle in 3 Health Area Directions, 21 Municipal Health Districts and 400 communities. The support of a PCRV has been requested to complement, strengthen and enhance efforts being carried out by the project’s Technology and Innovation, Nutrition and Adolescents / Family Planning advisors at the local Ministry of Health offices, and the PCRV will serve in the rural communities of Guatemala’s Western Highlands, working mostly with local-level stakeholders from the Ministry of Education, Municipal Offices, and/or Non-Profit Organizations. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the reduction of chronic malnutrition, maternal, neonatal and child mortality and mobility in Huehuetenango and El Quiché.

A PCRV with advanced proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and a Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Computer Science, Computer Programming, or similar degree is requested to support training of statistics and informatics staff from Health Area Directions in the use of business intelligence tools and data analysis tools for decision-making and service delivery improvement. The PCRV will also participate and strengthen linkages between Health Area Directions and the central Ministry of Health office on topics related to technology and innovation in health and nutrition, with emphasis on differentiated care for adolescents. Additionally, this assignment will support the creation of online tools and digital applications, with emphasis on topics related to differentiated care to adolescents, nutrition, and strengthening of processes.

Required Skills
• Bachelor degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Computer Science, Computer Programming, or similar degree.
• Experience in database design and management.
• Experience with mobile/web application development and/or software development.
• Familiarity with health information systems.
• Experience in training at a technical level and in the use of applications.
• Advanced proficiency in written and spoken Spanish.
